The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave 18,000 pounds of food to the DUMA Food Pantry

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints distributed 18,000 pounds of food to the Dunn United Ministerial Association (DUMA) Food Pantry today. In his first month of service as a bishop for the Church, Bishop Bruce Hudson coordinated the effort that began weeks ago in the Church's welfare distribution center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Church's welfare program provides temporary relief while at the same time helping people help themselves. The welfare program has been in operation for decades and is run almost entirely by volunteer labor.

The following items were delivered today:

"It's been an honor to work and coordinate with our friends at DUMA," said Hudson. According to its website, the Dunn United Ministerial Association is a coalition of churches, pastors, and individuals in or near Dunn, NC. DUMA is focused on serving residents through Food and Financial Assistance. The Food Pantry is located at 319 E Broad Street in Dunn, NC, and serves residents on the Second and Fourth Tuesdays of each month.

"We are extremely grateful for the donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We were becoming low on inventory, and this was a timely blessing. Also, the individual food items donated were exactly what we needed," said Pantry Director Todd Snyder from DUMA.
