Hope Mills, NC, August 13, 2023 - The Hope Mills, NC congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has new leadership to serve the members and the community. Bishop Chris Hansen, Joey Moultrie, and Kris Parkins have been sustained as the new bishopric of the Hope Mills Ward.

Bishop Hansen has been a member of the Church his entire life and has served in various callings, including as a full-time missionary in the United States and a counselor in the previous bishopric. He served in the Military prior to his current job as a cyber security engineer. He and his wife are the proud parents of three children. He said he is humbled and honored to serve as the bishop and hopes to follow the example of Jesus Christ in ministering to the needs of the people.

Joey Moultrie is the new First Counselor in the bishopric. He has previously served as the Elder's Quorum president, where he demonstrated his leadership and dedication to the welfare of his fellow brethren. He and his wife are the proud parents of four children. Brother Moultrie currently serves in the Military for his professional career.

Kris Parkins is the new Second Counselor in the bishopric. He and his wife have recently moved into the area and are eager to get to know and serve the members of the ward. They are the proud parents of two children, and Brother Parkins currently serves in the Military for his professional career.

We express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the outgoing bishopric of the Hope Mills Ward: Bishop Zac Swavely and his counselors. They have served faithfully and diligently, leading and guiding the ward members with love, wisdom, and compassion.

A bishopric is comprised of three men who are the leaders of a local congregation called a ward. They care for the people in their congregation and community by helping them with their spiritual and physical needs. They also lead the ceremonies and prayers that the Church members do, such as getting baptized and taking the sacrament each week to remember Jesus Christ. The bishop has the authority to guide the people in their congregation to follow God's plan and to help them if they make mistakes. The bishop's counselors support him in his work, and they can perform many of his duties when he is absent. A bishopric usually serves for about five years, but this can change depending on local circumstances.

The Hope Mills Ward is one of eight congregations in The Fayetteville North Carolina Stake of the Church. The ward meets every Sunday at 9:30 am at 5810 Rockfish Road, Hope Mills, North Carolina 28348. Visitors are always welcome to attend.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a Christian faith with over 17 million members worldwide.
