August 25th, 2021 - Catching the spirit of serving others, the youth group from the Fayetteville 4th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints organized materials to construct "Calm Kits" for young children returning to school after a year of virtual classes. These kits contain various items that provide a calming effect with an affirmation note to help students who have difficulty adjusting to coming back into the classroom.

The youth initiated a call for support through donations from the congregation. The initial goal was to build 25-30 kits. During the evening of August 25th, they successfully put together about 40 kits.
Speaking with a number of the youth, they indicated they were honored to assist the younger kids that these kits will help.
A Cumberland County Social Services Representative, Pamela Story, will distribute the completed kits to Cumberland County schools. Pamela works closely with the school system to identify and provide materials. She indicated that they had plenty of back-to-school kits, but the "Calm Kits" were in short supply. This project made up the difference and was much appreciated.
All donors will be receiving a personally written "Thank You" note from the youth for their contributions that made this service project a huge success.
